Sarah Henkin, Proof Collective Starter
Shop Manager, Omnivore Books + Food PR
My first job in food was:
Market Chef, CUESA
What brought me to San Francisco:
My one-year goal:
Come up with my five-year dream.
My five-year dream:
See one-year goal.
My mentor, and the most important lesson I learned from him or her:
Olga Katsnelson, How to: be prepared, be well-read, be thoughtful, be cool.
The person I'd most like to collaborate with, and the project:
I'd love to go back and research stories behind family recipes contributed to community cookbooks in the early 1900s--photographed by Alanna Hale.
What I can teach other people in this group:
How to perfectly cook just dug-up new potatoes.
My favorite thing to cook:
Always changing. Right now, just dug-up new potatoes, parboiled, lightly smashed then roasted with butter and salt, paper-thin skins give way to creamy interior. Nothing better.
Love trying new (to me) funky wines, Highlife + Jameson never fail me.
How I relax:
Read, belly-up to a bar with my bestie, walk from Golden Gate Park to Ocean Beach.
I am proof that figuring it out leaves room for unplanned happy surprises.
