Owner of Batter Bakery
My first job in food was:
Starting Batter! Seriously.
What brought me to San Francisco:
College brought me to the Bay Area.. the amazing hills and the water brought me to SF!
My one-year goal:
Have a killer first year in our new kitchen & shop! Start my cookbook.
My five-year dream:
Lines out the door everrrrry day. Cookbook published. Batter becomes a nationally familiar name. Happy awesome managers, more life balance for me.
My mentor, and the most important lesson I learned from him or her:
My older brother, Scott. Be determined, and patient. Set your expectations and standards high, and don't let them waver. Do what is important to you, not what other people think you should do.
The person I'd most like to collaborate with, and the project:
I have yet to meet this dream person.. who has the perfect Bay Area land + farm + house and wants to create an amazing destination bed & breakfast with me. Retirement/business 2.0 plan.
What I can teach other people in this group:
How starting at zero (experience, funding, connections, reputation) can make you humble, appreciative, and damn hard working. How to wear many, many hats.
My favorite thing to cook:
Huge, amazing salads (although I'm not sure that's technically cooking).
A giant glass of red wine, or bourbon on the rocks.
How I relax:
Yoga, never ending walks in the fog.
I am proof that you can chase those ridiculous dreams and end up just fine!
