My first job in food was:
Associate Publisher, Edible San Francisco
What brought me to San Francisco:
Simply wanting to try living in a new city. I grew up in New York, and wanted to try challenging myself in a different way. I also wanted to get more involved in the food and wine community, and SF seemed like a great place to do just that. Goal accomplished!
My one-year goal:
To drink more champagne.
My five-year dream:
To become a certified sommelier.
My mentor, and the most important lesson I learned from him or her:
I have learned so much from Jen Pelka, who I admire and take a lot of cues from. She has shown me that it's important to take risks and to be confident in the skills that I have, because they're worth far more than I give myself credit for.
The person I'd most like to collaborate with, and the project:
I have such a girl crush on Kerry Diamond. Would love nothing more than to work with her on a Cherry Bombe collab. (Update: done!)
What I can teach other people in this group:
How to fake it 'til you make it.
My favorite thing to cook:
Anything braised that requires a long amount of time in the kitchen catching up on Netflix and wine drinking.
Campari and soda.
How I relax:
Yoga and aggressively early bedtimes.
I am proof that it just takes a little bit of grit and a lot of awkward self-invites to become part of your local food community. It's one of the things I tried hardest to do (and still am!), but am the most proud of myself for accomplishing.
