Senior Manager, Restaurant Marketing at OpenTable
My first job in food was:
Catering parties during cooking school (read: serving and washing dishes)
What brought me to San Francisco:
An internship at Better Homes & Gardens. I got distracted by the farmers' markets and ended up in cooking school.
My one-year goal:
Launch and grow a food-centric newsletter. Learn Spanish. Finally learn how to meditate.
My five-year dream:
To find my voice and place as a writer.
My mentor, and the most important lesson I learned from him or her:
So many people I have worked for and with: Paige Porter Fischer (wise and gracious), Antonia Richmond (creative, big thinker), Chris Sullivan (meticulous, inquisitive), Jen Pelka (fearless!), Amanda Botelho (warm, enthusiastic, wildly productive), Catherine Porter (whip-smart and confident).
The person I'd most like to collaborate with, and the project:
Currently John T. Edge, Alain de Botton, Kerry Diamond, and/or David Gelb. Written and visual cultural commentary through the lens of food.
What I can teach other people in this group:
How to tell stories about food and ask the right questions.
My favorite thing to cook:
Poached eggs and free-form tarts.
Italian table wine, please.
How I relax:
Will report back when I master meditation.
I am proof that stories create connections, small and large.
